This is one of my most favorite Disney films. As I am writing these I am beginning to see that I am a fan of the films where the primary characters are not humans they are animals.
I adore this movie I think the characters are great and I really do like the story. The film was released on January 25th, 1961. The film is based off the book by Dodie Smith. The book was released in 1956 and by 1957 Disney had gotten the rights to the story to make a film. After the big flop by Sleeping Beauty there had been talks of shutting down the animation department at Disney. This obviously did not happen because they started to incorporate new animation technology to cut the cost of making the films.
One of the coolest parts of this film that some people may not know is that Jock, Bull, Peg, Lady and Tramp make appearances in 101 Dalmatians. They all appear during the twilight bark to alert all dogs that the puppies had been stolen.
Peg appears here in the pet shop on the left behind the puppies and bull is on the right
Lady is at the bottom of the screen shot and Tramp is on top of the truck
Here we see Jock
I love how Disney ties the films together! So here we go into my favorite scenes. I love the Kanine Krunchies sequence because I love lucky he is so awesome. I also love the song and tend to sing it randomly.
My next favorite scene is when the twilight bark reaches the Colonel and he is trying to interpret the bark sequence and he thinks there were 15 stolen puddles. This scene cracked me up so much as a kid.
After this scene I have to have as my ultimate favorite the end when all the puppies are saved and the song “Dalmatian Plantation” occurs. I love this song even though there are not many lines and I love seeing so much love for so many animals.
May all your dreams come true,
