Loungefly may have started as a small company almost 20 years ago in southern California, but they have a huge fan base that’s only growing. This is due to two things: adding new licenses and keeping quality construction. The brand began with skull print bags, and has now added t-shirts and accessories, and new licenses including: Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, Sanrio, My Little Pony, Peanuts, the list goes on and on.
What I love most about their bags and wallets in particular is the high quality, sturdy material and construction. I often find that some other handbag companies are going for mass-production and low cost, and are letting go of attention to quality, with the end result being bags that tear or have threads come loose with little wear.
Loungefly bags are made with faux leather, have solid and well-stitched faux leather handles, a metal branded name plate featuring the Loungefly logo and license logo (Marvel, Disney, etc.), and on certain models have metal ‘feet’ underneath to keep the base of the bag from getting damaged from use. (See detail photos below.) There are also many different options of bag types depending on your needs: backpacks and mini backpacks, dome bags (my personal favorite), crossbody bags, totes, duffle bags, wallets, makeup bags and luggage.
There is a Loungefly bag for any outfit in your closet, for almost any fandom you love, and at an affordable price. The pricing is a little higher than the average person might spend on a handbag, however you’re paying to have a bag that LASTS, I’ll bet years longer than the cheaper bags.
Also as of May 2017, Funko, the consumer products company we all know for their Pop! Vinyls, has entered into an agreement to acquire Loungefly. Funko announced the acquisition in a press release on May 22nd, which can be found here on their website. (This was also discussed on Episode 25 of Galactic Fashion, which you can find here.) Both companies feel this is a good match and that Funko’s larger distribution and additional licenses will only benefit both of them. Let’s hope this only continues the wonderful products we’ve come to love from Loungefly and Funko!
As for my personal collection of Loungefly products, in 2016 I received my first Loungefly bags – two Hello Kitty large dome bags, with one in turquoise and one in white, however my favorite is my R2D2 mini dome. It even has lining printed with the Star Wars logo!
Do you have a Loungefly obsession too? Let me know what’s in your collection and how you style it!
